LASIK,Uncategorized

LASIKLASIK surgery is a highly popular procedure that reshapes the surface of your eye to change the way light rays come through your eye. Vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can effectively be corrected with LASIK surgery by using a laser to gently reshape the curvature of the cornea. To see if LASIK surgery may be right for you, check out the most frequently asked questions.

Who is the best candidate for LASIK surgery?
If you are at least 18 years old, not pregnant or nursing, with healthy eyes and a stable eye prescription for at least a year, you’re a good candidate for LASIK surgery.  If you have irregular corneas, eye disease or eye viruses, you are not a viable candidate for LASIK.

Is LASIK safe?
LASIK surgery is very safe. In fact, complications are extremely rare, with a less than 1 percent risk of vision-threatening complications.

Does LASIK surgery hurt?
Your eye doctor uses anesthetic drops to fully numb the eye before LASIK is performed. Most patients report only some mild pressure around the eye during the procedure. Afterward, you will be prescribed eye drops to help keep you comfortable for the following few days.

How soon can I go back to work?
Recovery from LASIK surgery is fairly quick, with most patients being able to see clearly one to two days after surgery. And the majority of LASIK patients are able to resume normal activity the next day. Your vision may continue to improve over the next several months.

How long do the results of LASIK surgery last?
Your vision will be corrected on a largely permanent basis. However, as you age, your vision changes, which means you may still need reading or prescription glasses later in life.

Will I have perfect vision after LASIK?
While there is no guarantee of 20/20 vision after the procedure, the overall majority of patients are able to watch TV, play sports and drive without the need to wear glasses.
