2020 has introduced new technology for patients seeking cataract surgery at North Toronto Eye Care. We are pleased to offer the following new extended depth of focus (EDOF) lenses for our cataract patients:
EDOF monofocal
Tecnis Eyehance lens from Johnson and Johnson is a refractive technology monofocal lens that not only provides distance vision, but also some functional middle vision (e.g. dashboard). Just like a monofocal that is tried-and-true, this lens does not increase the risk of halos, glare or starbursts.
EDOF Wavefront technology
IQ Vivity lens from Alcon provides a continuous range of vision across distance and intermediate range. This lens is similar to a monofocal lens such that it does not increase the risk of halos, glare or starbursts.
EDOF combined multifocal lens
Tecnis Synergy lens from Johnson and Johnson combines extended depth of focus technology with multifocality to create a continuous range of vision from distance to 33 cm without the drop out at intermediate distances seen by previous multifocal designs.
The refractive cataract surgical team at North Toronto Eye Care and North Toronto Eye Surgical Centre are very excited about these new options for patients who desire more freedom from glasses.
