For those of you taking glaucoma medication, here are 4 simple tips to help keep you on track with your treatment plan:
1. Be completely honest with your eye doctor about compliance with your eye drops so that they can customize your treatment plan to your lifestyle. Missing eye drops can worsen your Glaucoma.
2. It can feel difficult at times to keep track of which medications to take and when to take them. Your loved ones at home can help remind you of your drop schedule as well as help you put in your eyedrops.
3. Use reminder tools around the house to help you to remember to put your drops in at the right time. For example, you can keep your drop bottle near your toothbrush or mark it off on a calendar or daily journal. You can even move your drops from one location to another after having put in the drops, or set alarms on your smart phone.
4. To ensure you got the drop into your eye, you can gently pinch the lower lid outwards to make a pocket that will “catch” your eyedrops. Without blinking, close your eyes and apply light pressure to inner eyelid corner for 3 minutes.
