We are now excited to announce that Dr. Ted Rabinovitch is now offering his patients Laser Assisted Cataract surgery as an option for surgery. Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery consists of a blade-free approach to cataract surgery, similar to blade free lasik. With the Laser, we will use a cool laser to create all corneal incisions, as well assist in performing the anterior capsulotomy, and lens fragmentation. This bladeless Laser Cataract Surgery has a number of advantages over traditional cataract surgery.

1. Better self-sealing incision with less chance of leakage

With the femtosecond laser we are able to better create incisions that will seal better then the traditional hand held blade.

2. Improved reduction of astigmatism and enhanced comfort

The technology allows us to easily create Limbal relaxing incisions with the femtosecond laser reducing the astigmatism.

3. Potential for better refractive outcomes and quality vision

The laser allows us to create a perfectly round central opening in the anterior capsule over the visual axis. This reduces the risk of the IOL to vault forward, backward, or be tilted, reducing higher-order aberrations and increasing the quality of vision.

4. Potential for clearer vision early postoperatively

The laser will assist in the fragmenting of the cataract, this allows for a large reduction of ultrasound energy, protecting the capsule and protecting the long term health of the corneal endothelial cells.
